Wood Street Mews public consultation event

We're holding a public consultation event for our Wood Street Mews project.

The proposal will create 6 homes and a community focussed café and workspace. The homes will be arranged in two short rows of three terraces with a central cycle and bin store between. Running along the centre of the site and connecting the homes will be a street which sits on a north/south axis and will be for walking and cycling and occasional deliveries.

The timber yard site is located behind 72-74 Wood Street and is overlooked by a number of existing homes on Wyatt’s Lane, Havant Road and Wood Street. The site has been owned and run as a timber yard since the early 1990’s by the same family. It’s light industrial and storage use is somewhat in conflict with an otherwise predominantly residential area.

The café will be a place for local residents, young businesses and anyone else to come together as a workspace or socially. There is a rear terrace which overlooks the mews (to the west) and a new public space to the east on Wood Street which will also be a place to sit and watch the world go by.

This project is designed to be low in both embodied carbon and energy-during-use. It will also improve the biodiversity of the site and will benefit the neighbouring residents by reducing the noise and disruption of the site which is currently a timber yard.

‍Come and see the proposals in more detail, and leave your feedback.

All welcome!
